Our Mohawk sinking video is now posted below. Let us know what you think in the comments below.
At around 12:40pm, July 2nd 2012, the former Coast Guard Cutter Mohawk was sunk to the sea floor off the coast of Lee county Florida. See of the explosive sinking in the picture gallery below and look for video of the deployment to be posted soon.
The deployment was a great event with great weather, 100's of spectator boats, and an entertaining fireworks show. The Mohawk was sunk by the means of cutting charges; explosives that cut through the vessels hull allowing water to rush in. After the explosives were detonated the Mohawk sunk within minutes.
TISIRI's Joe Kistel and Ed Kalakauskis participated in the deployment events and investigated nearby artificial reef locations for TISIRI's Reefs Reveal mapping efforts. Stay tuned for the deployment day video and pictures from near by reef locations.
Wow, Awesome! The cord explosion in the water by the Mohawk is really cool.
Pretty neat pics! Wish I could have seen it in person. Very cool.
Wow they really go down fast when explosives are used.
I couldn’t believe all the boats out there for this one. Holy cow!
BOOM!!! Must have been a neat experience.
Now we know where to find the Grouper!
Great job TISIRI!
Really spectacular!

Hello just wanted to give you a quick heads up. The words in your article seem to be running off the screen in Internet explorer. I’m not sure if this is a format issue or something to do with internet browser compatibility but I figured I’d post to let you know. The design and style look great though! Hope you get the issue resolved soon. Thanks
