History
The Spike is a 70 foot long vessel that served as a Coast Guard tender from the early 1960's through the early 1980's. In the 80's she was acquired by the Safe Harbor Maritime Academy where she was utilized as a dormitory and educational tool. In the summer of 2009 the Spike was prepared for reefing and placed offshore in early July. Watch the video above to see the story.
